‘Closing close’ on loan signing of Brighton star, 19, by Leicester City

According to reports, Leicester City is getting closer to signing Brighton & Hove Albion’s Facundo Buonanotte on loan.
The 19-year-old only made 17 appearances in Roberto De Zerbi’s starting lineup during his stint as a reserve for the Seagulls in the Premier League last season.

Nevertheless, Buonanotte made a total of 27 games in the top flight, contributing one assist and three goals while Brighton fought on both the local and European fronts.

The forward played in five of the Seagulls’ Europa League group stage games, but the South Coast team was not able to pull off an improbable European triumph.

Buonanotte joined Brighton in January 2023 after leaving Rosario Central, and he has made 50 appearances for the team, scoring five goals.

Is Leicester planning to take a loan on Brighton’s Buonanotte?
Leicester is reportedly approaching their sixth summer window acquisition as they attempt to stave off an imminent relegation back to the Championship, according to the Daily Mail.

According to the report, the Foxes are eager to sign Buonanotte, who may decide to cross Premier League boundaries before the transfer window closes.

The 19-year-old is reportedly in early negotiations with Brighton for a loan deal, with the South Coast team looking to temporarily release the striker. It is thought that the Argentine traveled to Leicester for a medical with the Premier League newcomers on Thursday and should be ready for the start of the campaign if the signing is finalized. But, as of right now, there is reportedly neither an obligation nor an option for the Foxes to buy Buonanotte after the loan spell—probably a wise decision given the East Midlanders’ precarious situation with Profit and Sustainability rules.

Is Buonanotte a suitable match for Leicester?

Leicester needs a team that is prepared to battle for a top-17 Premier League finish this year, especially with the possibility of a points deduction looming large.

Even though loan players frequently get estranged from the outcomes of their short-term teams, Buonanotte’s talent would undoubtedly benefit the Foxes much.

That being said, Abdul Fatawu, a permanent addition from Sporting Lisbon, gives Steve Cooper’s team an elite right winger already.

Buonanotte might therefore play in the engine room with players like Wilfred Ndidi and Harry Winks in an advanced midfield role.
